In the last few days, the first official teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens has been released to the general public. I remember a far more naïve time in my life when the mere mention of this would have created goose bumps on my skin: yes, I was raised and indoctrinated by “The Force”! Given my valid concerns about the output of Hollywood (particularly that of Disney), I was immediately raising an eyebrow when it was announced that Disney had acquired Lucasfilm, the Star Wars franchise, would be making a new “Wars” film shortly and that it would be helmed by Disney stalwart J.J. Abrams. I have no doubt in my mind that these new films will not feel like previous Star Wars efforts. There will be an “undercurrent” of something untoward, perhaps somewhat indefinable but it will be there never the less. I base this conclusion on what I have come to understand about the way Disney produces its material. I have written a fair amount on this subject in the past and included some links below for further reading.

Namaste Carl, thanks for the trailer, we just watched all six episodes in order last week, this link was a timely adjunct. I am already looking forward to your analysis after it has been released.

Cheers Chris. I did a similar thing about 12 months ago but it was more for research purposes - noting symbolism, numerology, themes, that sort of thing.
It is easy to love those films. Although I do wonder sometimes if that is a by product of the way they were made, as I noted in my book.
